Privacy Policy
Effective October 29, 2026
This policy explains how the Explorivore iOS app (“the app”) handles information during its beta. The app is provided by Parnassian Solutions, LLC, doing business as Explorivore (“Explorivore”, “we”, “us”).
The short version
- The app has no accounts and no sign-in.
- Everything you create in the app stays on your device. That includes profiles, observations, drawings, photos and points.
- We do not run a server that receives your app data, and we have no copy of it.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
Information stored on your device
The app stores the following only on your device. We never see it.
- Profiles and teams: the display name and avatar you choose, reading level, language, points, ranks and stamps.
- Your observations: the behaviour, plant and pollinator observations you log, including any notes you write.
- Drawings and photos: drawings you make and photos you take inside the app.
- Settings: your chosen institution, active profile and team.
You can delete a profile, and everything linked to it, in Settings → Teams & Profiles. Deleting a drawing also deletes its photo. Uninstalling the app removes all of its data from your device.
Device permissions
The app asks for these permissions only when you use a feature that needs them. You can change them at any time in iOS Settings.
- Camera: used to scan exhibit QR codes and to take photos for drawings. Photos stay on your device.
- Location (while using the app): used to show where you are on the map. Your location is not stored or sent anywhere.
- Photos (add only): used when you choose to save a drawing to your photo library. The app cannot read your existing photos.
Third-party services
Some app features connect to third-party services. These services receive your device’s IP address, which is a normal part of loading anything from the internet.
- OpenStreetMap: map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap’s servers. Map search uses OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service, which receives the text you type in the search box. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy.
- unpkg.com: the map display code is loaded from this content delivery network.
When you tap a link to an outside website, such as iNaturalist or IUCN, or open directions in Apple Maps, that website or app’s own privacy policy applies.
TestFlight beta testing
The beta is distributed through Apple’s TestFlight. Apple shares some information with us as part of TestFlight:
- the name and email address you were invited with, if you were invited by email
- your device model, iOS version and app build
- crash reports
- any feedback and screenshots you choose to submit
We use this information only to run the beta and to improve the app. We do not sell it or share it with anyone else. Apple’s handling of this data is covered by Apple’s privacy policy. If you would like your tester information removed, contact us or leave the beta in the TestFlight app.
Children
Explorivore is designed for families and visitors of all ages, including children. The app does not collect personal information from children or anyone else. A child’s profile name and activity stay on the device they were created on. We recommend that a parent or guardian set up profiles for young children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles information, for example by adding accounts or syncing, we will update this policy and its effective date before that change ships.
